Marco Glühmann is SYLVAN's lead singer since 1995. He enjoys travelling around, particularly likes good food and has got the academic degree of a doctor of physics! Even though for him there is nothing more dramatic than reality, he enjoys being fascinated by horror or heartache at a movie theatre from time to time.

Matthias Harder is one of the founding members of SYLVAN. Being a child, he already developed a great passion for fine arts. He began playing the piano early in his life, loved going to the theatre or concerts and believed for a very long time that he was sure to become a director one day.

After finishing his studies, he now is a full time musician and composer. Apart from his work with SYLVAN, he is the musical head and keyboarder of the band RAIN FOR A DAY, plays in various side projects and also writes songs for advertisements.

Sebastian Harnack is SYLVANs bassplayer since the year 2000. After travelling the world as a child and many places he lived but unfortunately does not remember, he lives now in the west of Hamburg. The decision of picking up a bass guitar came quite spontaneously when he was 13. He started making music together with two friends and then wished himself his first bass guitar, a 4-string Gibson Epiphone. The most different styles of music starting with his dad’s Beatles Collection on vinyl continuing with CDs of Sting and Rage against the machine and music from Marcus Miller influenced his was of playing the bass a lot.

JAN PETERSEN started to play the guitar at the age of 16. He developed his style playing along with his favourite records from bands like AC/DC, Iron Maiden and Metallica. In the past Jan joint several bands, he played gigs and studiojobs for Esprit, Instrumental Garbage, Krüger, Sophistree, Moaliza among others. Since december 2007 he is a permanent member of SYLVAN. Beside Sylvan Jan plays with "das halbe Quartett", an acoustic-guitar-jazz-duo. He also is part of BEYOND THE BLUE, a progressive rock studio project.

Volker Söhl is part of the band's original line-up. He shares the passion for cooking with his twin brother, loves movies and is teaching music in Hamburg.
